Nam Le

My name is Nam Le, an international student from Vietnam currently studying Interior Architecture at Swinburne University of Technology. Since childhood, I have harbored a passion for design, aspiring to become an interior designer despite initially feeling uncertain about my abilities. Choosing the right university was a pivotal decision, and Swinburne emerged as the ideal environment to support my goals. Here, I’ve developed a strong foundation in designing interior spaces and architectural structures, taking projects from initial concept to completion.

Throughout my studies, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a range of projects, including student accommodations, social spaces, museums, art galleries, and wellness retreat facilities. These experiences have equipped me with practical skills and introduced me to valuable industry connections that I look forward to building on in my career. I’m known for my strong work ethic, attention to detail, and sociability. Additionally, my appreciation for cultural diversity enriches my approach to design, helping me incorporate unique styles and perspectives into my work. This cultural awareness has become integral to my design philosophy and practice, as I strive to create meaningful and inclusive spaces.

My capstone project, the Rhythm Sport Center, is carefully crafted to cater to elite athletes and individuals dedicated to rehabilitation or regaining mobility. This thoughtfully designed facility comprises four unique buildings, each representing a stage in the journey toward restoring movement and independence.

Garden view - Rhythm Sport center

This garden is the most aesthetic outdoor space in the building. It is the space located in the middle of four buildings which helps connect every single element in the project.

Basketball course - Rhythm Sport Center

The basketball court is designed to standard dimensions, incorporating materials such as wood, cement, and stone to ensure durability and a sleek, modern aesthetic. Adjacent to this, the football field is equipped with a nice lighting system, providing a professional ambiance for athletes during both day and night sessions.

Physical therapy room - Rhythm Sport Center

One of the most important space in this project is physical therapy room because this is the room where patients begin to improve their very first step in their journey. The space is install a lot of professional machines , high-tech exercise tools and have a soft color tone

Snack Bar - Rhythm Sport Center

Snack Bar is designed for everyone who want to buy food and drink before or after training here. The space not only include “rhythm” design element and parametric components but also has a relax mood bringing good feeling for the customers.

Guided by the principles of respect, reconciliation, and reciprocity we undertake to indigenising and decolonising design practice by dismantling colonial structures and challenging biases that have marginalised Indigenous voices and design.

As students of SoDA you will be given opportunities to both engage with and educate yourself in Indigenous creative practices and cultural protocols through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, respect, mutual understanding, inter-cultural dialogue in all aspects of design practice. Indigenous people have been telling stories, making tools, and connecting to Country through visual media, placemaking and place marking for more than 60,000 years and these practices are part of an ongoing, evolving and live tradition.
