Dang Hoang Lam Tran

Hi, I am Dang Hoang Lam Tran or known as Harley Tran. As a motion design student, I apply my lifelong interest for graphic design and photography to every project. My career as a designer began with a childhood experience of awe: standing in front of stunning church architecture, captivated by the exquisite beauty and majesty of these hallowed spaces. The way such frameworks combine story, detail, and purpose became an endless source of inspiration for me. This encounter paved the way for my creative endeavours, inspiring me to investigate how design can elicit emotions, convey tales, and leave lasting effects.

Throughout my education and experience in graphic design, I've developed a keen eye for detail and a commitment to creating visually appealing images. I am inspired by the power of visual storytelling and the beauty of movement that motion design uniquely provides. Photography enhances my creative abilities by allowing me to investigate light, composition, and perspective via a different lens.

My long-term aim is to form my own creative team, where cooperation and shared enthusiasm drive us to create compelling, relevant work. I want to head a team where each project is a study of art, technology, and human connection, expressing the very spirit of design that has driven me since the beginning.

Acknowledgement of Country

Guided by the principles of respect, reconciliation, and reciprocity we undertake to indigenising and decolonising design practice by dismantling colonial structures and challenging biases that have marginalised Indigenous voices and design.

As students of SoDA you will be given opportunities to both engage with and educate yourself in Indigenous creative practices and cultural protocols through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, respect, mutual understanding, inter-cultural dialogue in all aspects of design practice. Indigenous people have been telling stories, making tools, and connecting to Country through visual media, placemaking and place marking for more than 60,000 years and these practices are part of an ongoing, evolving and live tradition.
