Jamie Park

Originally from South Korea, Jamie Park is a Melbourne-based photographer and visual artist specializing in both digital and alternative photography techniques. Her graduation project, Timeless Decay, is a series that captures the beauty of nature's life cycle, preserving fleeting moments of plants as they bloom and fade. Driven by an appreciation for the delicate relationship between time and nature, Jamie utilizes traditional methods like cyanotype and lumen prints to create artwork that transcends the temporal limitations of digital photography, offering viewers a timeless look at nature's ephemeral beauty.

Her interest in classic photographic techniques stems from a desire to explore expressive possibilities outside of digital methods. Timeless Decay emerged from Jamie’s fascination with capturing transient beauty and preserving it as an art form, experimenting with processes that uniquely reflect natural decay and rebirth.

Beyond this project, Jamie is passionate about discovering hidden beauty in everyday moments and is inspired by conceptual photography within the music and fashion industries. She enjoys creating visuals that merge artistic expression with commercial appeal, such as luxury brand campaigns and editorial fashion spreads. Through her work, Jamie seeks to continually expand her photographic techniques and perspectives, capturing stories and emotions that resonate deeply across diverse forms and subjects.

Guided by the principles of respect, reconciliation, and reciprocity we undertake to indigenising and decolonising design practice by dismantling colonial structures and challenging biases that have marginalised Indigenous voices and design.

As students of SoDA you will be given opportunities to both engage with and educate yourself in Indigenous creative practices and cultural protocols through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, respect, mutual understanding, inter-cultural dialogue in all aspects of design practice. Indigenous people have been telling stories, making tools, and connecting to Country through visual media, placemaking and place marking for more than 60,000 years and these practices are part of an ongoing, evolving and live tradition.
