UX Interaction Design

Hi, I'm Mei. I am a Graphic and UX Interaction Designer with a passion for creating meaningful and visually engaging experiences.

My journey began in graphic design, where I found joy in crafting diverse, creative designs across various mediums. I especially love branding and layout design, which naturally led me to expand into UX Interaction Design. Now, I’m a versatile designer skilled in both graphic and UX design, blending creativity with functionality.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Design, majoring in UX Interaction Design. In 2023/2024, I had the privilege of serving as the president of the Malaysians at Swinburne Association (MSA). In this role, I organized both large and small-scale events, each bringing unique challenges that required quick thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving. Managing these events taught me the importance of communication and teamwork to bring ideas to life. Each challenge is an opportunity to grow, adapt, and make improvements.

When I’m not designing, I enjoy nature walks and staying active. I also have over 15 years of experience in rhythmic gymnastics, including coaching for two years in Malaysia.

Guided by the principles of respect, reconciliation, and reciprocity we undertake to indigenising and decolonising design practice by dismantling colonial structures and challenging biases that have marginalised Indigenous voices and design.

As students of SoDA you will be given opportunities to both engage with and educate yourself in Indigenous creative practices and cultural protocols through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, respect, mutual understanding, inter-cultural dialogue in all aspects of design practice. Indigenous people have been telling stories, making tools, and connecting to Country through visual media, placemaking and place marking for more than 60,000 years and these practices are part of an ongoing, evolving and live tradition.
