Going by first and middle name online, Theo Xavior is a freelance photographer who has defined their craft within narrative-based works. Drawing from experiences of everyone involved with the process, the photoshoots tend to effortlessly become both energised and cathartic experiences. Aesthetics then naturally become a form of self-expression.
Having done work in more streamlined commercial photography setting, and more creative projects, Theo has set their sights on doing more of the latter. With the growth of AI, audiences had had an increased desire for authenticity and connection in ways which are unique to the human experience.
As well as independent contracting, what appeals the most to Theo is on set photography for cinema – being able to develop assets within the creation of established narrative would incentive for creativity and inspire Theo to become invested in the project.
Motifs most explored within Theo’s works are often homages to fictional settings of the future and past – keeping true to the most important characteristics, being able to present alternative timelines in ways which connect individuals has proven to be in some ways more helpful than trying to define the reality of our world. Biases and calcification to the reality we live in can impede progress.
This was most useful to Theo when addressing the central creative topic of “time”. Being able to link different time periods to practices similar to shibari (as found on their website: rigger.theoxavior.com.au) helped Theo to communication the human condition.
