Architectural Engineering

Architectural Engineering at Swinburne equips students to tackle building design holistically, taking into account many different and conflicting performance criteria and stakeholder viewpoints. Dealing with complexity is one of the biggest challenges in building design today. Usually that complexity and siloing of disciplines is what leads to solutions with high carbon footprints and insufficient sensitivity to the individual human and wider community needs that are thankfully becoming more and more valuable to us.

I have enjoyed the contrast and diversity in subjects presented to us in our Architectural Engineering Course that challenges me both in an analytical and creative sense. This course gives a more holistic view of the design process from design inception to execution allowing me to explore my creativity, whilst giving me the technical skills to further rationalize and realize potential solutions.

We respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which Swinburne’s Australian campuses are located in Melbourne’s east and outer-east, and pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We are honoured to recognise our connection to Wurundjeri Country, history, culture and spirituality through these locations, and strive to ensure that we operate in a manner that respects and honours the Elders and Ancestors of these lands.

We also acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of lands across Australia, their Elders, Ancestors, cultures and heritage.
