I am currently a Bachelor of Design (Architecture) student at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Victoria. I’ve always known I wanted to be a designer, and I’ve always admired the concept of producing and being creative in a variety of ways. As I grew older, I realised that I wanted to do more than just design; I wanted to make a difference in the field of architecture, whether it was by developing new methods for designing unique architectural structures or transforming old structures into sustainable ones. While at Swinburne, I was able to explore myself and my interests, and in this case, I was able to obtain skills in generating floor plans, elevations, sections, and schematic diagrams for various structures that were either already existing or that I could model. I’ve also enhanced my design thinking and creativity through conceptual brainstorming and prototyping.
As a second-year architecture student, I’ve honed my skills and broadened my horizons. Starting a course like this made me realise how much I appreciate art, since I think of art as a concept that can be described in a multitude of ways. I aim to create structures that make people feel alive, that make them feel that the world is changing for the better by using sustainable, recyclable materials and coming up with creative solutions to the difficulties we have in our architecture today. I don’t only think of architecture as creating structures; I think of it as using your creative mind to produce many thoughts that go through multiple conceptual phases in order to achieve something visually stunning.
