Mikaela is a photographer and designer based in Naarm.

Mikaela has had a love of visual arts, particularly photography since she was a young teenager. Drawn to telling stories and exploring people and social / personal issues through portraiture and imagery. Growing up in the western suburbs showed her the unique nature and importance of story telling through a visual medium.

She focused on her photography and art in her final years of high school at Swinburne Senior Secondary Collage, completing Studio Art photography and Art. Her time in an arts focused school allowed her to grow her creativity and technical skills.

Mikaela commenced a Bachelor of Design in 2021 and has since gained a lot from the course. This degree has allowed her to refine her photography and develop skills and a passion for graphic design.

During her capstone project, Mikaela was able to implement her love of portraiture and story telling whilst exploring the pressures and anxieties of growing up, focusing on those closest to her in ‘Rot//Flourish.’

Outside of her studies, she has enjoyed featuring in local art exhibitions,Picturing Footscray and Show your WESTside, winning People’s choice and Judges Honourable mention.

Mikaela is currently working with a community education centre as a graphic designer. She is excited to continue pursuing photography and design.
