Glo Nera

Hi! I’m Glo (like glow in the dark!) and I’m graphic and motion designer visualising ideas and stories through illustration, branding, packaging design, and animation.

Over the past 3 years while completing my degree, I’ve worked as a freelance designer for various online content creators and companies and have successfully completed an internship at the creative agency, Studio Payne, where I was able to learn from incredible industry professionals, work on projects for clients across Australia, and deepen my passion for design and motion.

From my fondness for color and graphics as an illustrator at heart, I thrive in creating designs that mix creativity, precision, and a touch of playfulness. I love tackling challenging briefs and turning ideas into visually striking designs founded on a story to connect with the audience and deliver a memorable experience. I believe that design built with fun and heart is design done well.

It’s been an exciting journey so far as a designer where I was able to create projects inspired by my experiences and heritage—and there’s so much more to learn, discover, and create where I’m able to bring my unique and lively perspective and playful approach.

When I’m not setting keyframes in After Effects or building vectors in Illustrator, I’m probably fiddling with Super Mario or...Wait, do you hear that Tetris theme playing?

Branding and packaging design for an expressive bold new force in hair care, specialising in hair dye, Love Laya. The brand celebrates self-expression and unique identities, as a brand established in the Philippines, made by and for queers, advocating and empowering #YourTrueHues

Ganba Panda

A welcoming and illustrative brand and packaging design for Japanese sweet bread buns featuring a panda mascot named ‘Pan’ leading an enchanting journey across Japan to befriend lucky charms and introduce Japanese culture through fun trivia and mystery cards.

Boundless Boundaries

Publication design interpretation of article “Virtually nothing re-evaluating the significance of cyberspace” exploring themes of constrained freedom in cyberspace: a virtual platform of momentary liberation yet merely an illusion.

Type Fair PH

A motion response video introducing Type Fair PH as a bright, lively, and welcoming event that features the different activities and presents itself as a diverse and creative gathering that celebrates the rich culture of Filipino design and typography.

Jeong Festival

Event design for Melbourne Korea Festival, creating event collaterals including a main poster, festival guide, and website design through a visual theme that encapsulates the crowded signage through the busy streets of Seoul.

Acknowledgement of Country

The School of Design and Architecture respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners and knowledge-keepers of the lands, waters and sky that surround us, where we work, learn, create, communicate and make place. Guided by the principles of respect, reconciliation, and reciprocity we undertake to indigenising and decolonising design practice by dismantling colonial structures and challenging biases that have marginalised Indigenous voices and design.

As students of SoDA you will be given opportunities to both engage with and educate yourself in Indigenous creative practices and cultural protocols through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, respect, mutual understanding, inter-cultural dialogue in all aspects of design practice. Indigenous people have been telling stories, making tools, and connecting to Country through visual media, placemaking and place marking for more than 60,000 years and these practices are part of an ongoing, evolving and live tradition.
