Hi! I’m Andrea Hart, a designer whose creative journey is driven by a deep passion for crafting visuals with limitless imagination. I see design as an art—a form of storytelling, that allows me to bring bold ideas to life, layering colour, depth, and warmth into every project I take on.

My love for design was sparked early on, shaped by hours immersed in the vibrant hues of oil paints. Painting gave me not only an intuitive sense of colour and composition, but also patience and attention to detail, that I now channel into my design work. Where every piece becomes an exploration of expression and purpose.

I also love fashion, with its ever-evolving ability to express individuality. I love weaving my personal style into my designs, creating visuals that feel rich with character, energy, and authenticity. I want to create beautiful pieces of art and design that people connect with on a deeper level.

Through brushstrokes and the interplay of colours and typography on a screen, my work is where design, art, and the beauty of untamed creativity come together.

JENJA

A rebrand of South African fashion house Jenja Clothing. With a bold use of branding and the distinct red colour Jenja has become known for, the brand stands out in a fashion world full of neutral tones. Jenja highlights their clothes with their unique design look, while also centring their values in their handmade and sustainable aspects.

Foxy Fusion

Foxy Fusion is a design of 3 different flavours of an easy “make it yourself” cocktail mix. The colour of the packaging reflects the flavour chosen for each cocktail, each detailed with different fox illustrations.

Stop Our Plastic Future.

The Stop Our Plastic Future Campaign addresses the severity of plastic pollution by emphasising that individual recycling efforts aren’t enough. Significant change requires collective efforts from the plastic production industry and government intervention. This is visualised through living beings suffocated in shrink wrap.

Lost in Non-Place

Lost in Non-Place is a piece of text I chose to portray through photographic and visual editing. I wanted to show the feeling of being lost in a forever darkness where it feels like you will never escape.

RBGV Annual Report

A re-design of the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria’s Annual Report. My re-design was inspired by storytelling, as within this report, the reader will follow an illustrated bee as it explores the different plants the gardens have on offer.

Acknowledgement of Country

The School of Design and Architecture respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners and knowledge-keepers of the lands, waters and sky that surround us, where we work, learn, create, communicate and make place. We recognise that sovereignty has never been ceded and this always was and will always be Wurundjeri Country. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who continue to make a better world through design.

We extend our acknowledgement to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students, alumni, real-life clients, and knowledge keepers, who have contributed to our own education diversity and growth. We will continue to ensure that staff and students respectfully honour ancestral connection to Country and Place in everything that they do.

We are dedicated to the notion of design to make a better world and we acknowledge that making tools, shaping place, sharing stories, making meaning, wayfinding and collaborating have long been and continue to be both central and integral to First Peoples' cultures. We recognize that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ cultural contributions have continued relevance to design practice and commit to: reconciling ancestries of design and contemporary practice as well as pursuing culturally and professionally appropriate ways to engage with a diverse population of colleagues, industries and clients. In a time of treaty-making and voice we understand that there are overlaps between caring for Country and the sustainable production of goods, services, experiences, products and buildings.

Guided by the principles of respect, reconciliation, and reciprocity we undertake to indigenising and decolonising design practice by dismantling colonial structures and challenging biases that have marginalised Indigenous voices and design.

As students of SoDA you will be given opportunities to both engage with and educate yourself in Indigenous creative practices and cultural protocols through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, respect, mutual understanding, inter-cultural dialogue in all aspects of design practice. Indigenous people have been telling stories, making tools, and connecting to Country through visual media, placemaking and place marking for more than 60,000 years and these practices are part of an ongoing, evolving and live tradition.
