My name is Georgia Grimaldi, and I am a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Architecture program at Swinburne University. I have always been deeply curious about this field, finding great joy in the seamless blend of creativity and functionality that architecture represents. This curiosity is driven by a strong conviction: that thoughtful design has the power to enhance both the aesthetic appeal of our environment and, more importantly, the way people interact with their surroundings, thereby fundamentally improving quality of life.

I believe architecture holds the potential for meaningful impact because it directly influences community dynamics and enhances the human living condition. For me, every building and structure tells a story and possesses the tangible capacity to make a real-world difference. To translate this vision into reality, I am now familiar and comfortable with industry-standard software, specializing in 3D modeling using Revit and Rhino.

GREENFOLD- Hybrid apartment living complex ARC30001

This exterior render showcases this design as a gentle unfolding of nature within an urban landscape, where lush greenery and organic movement create a peaceful, interconnected space. The building's rotated floor plates reflect the calming, organic flow of a path through a lush landscape, creating a layered, gentle ascent. Each level is designed to blend architecture with greenery, from the exposed ground floor reception to the "mid-level floating garden," which offers a lush, tranquil pause in the progression upwards. Greenfold creates an accessible, bright environment that promotes connection, calm, and a sense of discovery, offering an urban lifestyle rooted in nature and open to the city.

JACARANDA HOUSE EXTENSION - BIM ARC30004

The extension brief was to extend the home with a flexible studio space for a professional artist specialising in painting and sculpture. The client required a light filled, adaptable studio with durable finishes, storage, and gallery display areas while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoors.

AMDC RETROFIT- BIM ARC30004

The primary aim of the AMDC retrofit is to fundamentally improve student wellbeing and collaboration by transforming underutilized spaces into a restorative, social campus core. The new interior design achieves this through a language of soft curves, gentle lighting, and significant integrated greenery, which is scientifically proven to boost concentration and lower stress. Key interventions, such as the Level 7 Café and Indoor Wellness Garden, respond directly to student feedback by providing accessible spaces for fresh air and food, preventing workflow disruption. By extending social and collaborative elements into formerly disconnected vertical voids, the project turns movement and study into a shared, rejuvenating experience, blending focused productivity with essential rest and social connection.

We recognize that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ cultural contributions have continued relevance to design practice and commit to: reconciling ancestries of design and contemporary practice as well as pursuing culturally and professionally appropriate ways to engage with a diverse population of colleagues, industries and clients. In a time of treaty-making and voice we understand that there are overlaps between caring for Country and the sustainable production of goods, services, experiences, products and buildings.

Guided by the principles of respect, reconciliation, and reciprocity we undertake to indigenising and decolonising design practice by dismantling colonial structures and challenging biases that have marginalised Indigenous voices and design.

As students of SoDA you will be given opportunities to both engage with and educate yourself in Indigenous creative practices and cultural protocols through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, respect, mutual understanding, inter-cultural dialogue in all aspects of design practice. Indigenous people have been telling stories, making tools, and connecting to Country through visual media, placemaking and place marking for more than 60,000 years and these practices are part of an ongoing, evolving and live tradition.
