Mietta Charlwood is a third year architecture student based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Her design practice aspires to create transformative residential architecture and small retail spaces, drawing on her experiences travelling worldwide. She desires unique family homes. Mietta believes homes should showcase the personality of the family, representing each person in tailored spaces which combine functionality with beauty. More than ever, having comforting and reflective space at home has become important in the pandemic landscape. This calls for a reimagining to balance work and life within four walls, in a manner which lifts peoples’ spirits. Mietta likes to design afresh or to undertake sensitive restorations, blending between the past and now. Her sensibilities are also informed by designing for cultural institutions.

Mietta has experience using Rhino, Revit, Grasshopper, Twinmotion, Endscape and more. Her ambitions are supported by her skills in digital fabrication, project management, lateral thinking and creative problem solving, collaboration and marketing. She is inspired by her experiences in urban design and open plan design.
