Coffee, sketching and 3D printing describes an average day for Hugh O’Dwyer who’s passionate about experimenting with novel ideas for unique solutions. Hugh started out tinkering alongside YouTube videos in his Dad’s tiny shed back in Bendigo using found objects and the tools within reach. Ten years later and it’s no surprise that he’s become an Industrial Designer.

Hugh enjoys the unique challenges that different briefs can bring, whether it’s designing lightweight foldable furniture, creating a unique bathroom experience or designing an innovative children’s gumboot. Engaging with new processes and materials is the most exciting part of taking on these projects, especially when the design process gets hands-on. Mistakes happen, looking at them as learning opportunities Hugh finds it aids the creative process highlighting features that may have been otherwise missed.
