I am a passionate advocate for preserving and protecting built heritage and am working towards a career in heritage conservation.

Taking every opportunity to get involved, I attend heritage events like the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Youth Forum in Sydney, and dedicate my time to volunteering for the National Trust Victoria as a House Guide and Student Conservator. These rewarding experiences connect me with communities and industry professionals, opening my eyes to the complexities and challenges facing heritage.

I strongly believe in the value of saving our existing buildings. They tell us stories about where we have come from and can give us clues about how to design for the future. Adaptive reuse and retrofitting existing spaces not only retains the character or soul of a building but is a more sustainable choice, reducing our carbon impact by utilising the materials we already have.

I look forward to continuing my studies next year with a Master of Urban and Cultural Heritage and can’t wait to get out into the industry to be a part of positive change to save our heritage.
