Giorgia Siligato's journey as an interior designer began with a childhood fascination for the world of aesthetics and beauty. Growing up in the vibrant city of Rome, Italy, she was surrounded by a rich tapestry of art, history, and culture that sparked her creative imagination. Her passion for transforming spaces into works of art would soon set her on a path towards a promising career in interior design.

In 2009, Giorgia took a significant step in her journey by moving to Melbourne, Australia with her family. Her journey isn't just about her career as an interior designer; it's also a reflection of her remarkable personality and values. She is someone who values trustworthiness, kindness, honesty, ambition, and sincerity. In 2019, she embarked on her formal education journey, enrolling at Swinburne University of Technology in Hawthorn. Her dedication to her craft and her dream led her to start with a diploma in interior design, followed by an advanced diploma, and is now graduating with a Bachelor of Interior Design and Architecture. Giorgia's academic pursuits were marked by her determined commitment to refining her skills and turning her dreams into reality.

One of Giorgia's defining characteristics as an interior designer is her unwavering commitment to the creative process. Her time at Swinburne allowed her to refine her skills, to conceptualize spaces and translate them into unique, harmonious environments, showcasing her accurate eye for detail and her understanding of the subtleties of design. Throughout her educational journey and practical experiences, Giorgia continued to hone her belief that successful interior design lies in striking a balance between functionality and aesthetics. Her projects, which she undertook during her studies, demonstrated this philosophy, where every element was meticulously chosen to harmonise with the overall design, ensuring that the spaces she creates are both beautiful and practical.

As she approaches her graduation from Swinburne University with a Bachelor of Interior Design and Architecture, she is more eager than ever to embark on her professional career as an interior designer. Armed with a wealth of knowledge, a passion for design, and a strong commitment to excellence, she is poised to make a significant impact in the world of interior design. The Blossoming Lotus - Kitchen

Paterson St Village - Living Room

Paterson St Village, where your living space becomes your tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of university life. These townhouses are thoughtfully designed to create a holiday-like ambience, offering rest from your busy academic schedule. With a calming and laid-back material palette, we've curated an atmosphere that reflects the simple joys of life. Our project is tailored to cater to students in need of short-term stays, whether that be for emergency situations or academic events at the university. Experience serenity, comfort, and convenience at Paterson St Village, your home away from home.

Acknowledgement of Country

The School of Design and Architecture respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners and knowledge-keepers of the lands, waters and sky that surround us, where we work, learn, create, communicate and make place. In a time of treaty-making and voice we understand that there are overlaps between caring for Country and the sustainable production of goods, services, experiences, products and buildings.

Guided by the principles of respect, reconciliation, and reciprocity we undertake to indigenising and decolonising design practice by dismantling colonial structures and challenging biases that have marginalised Indigenous voices and design.

As students of SoDA you will be given opportunities to both engage with and educate yourself in Indigenous creative practices and cultural protocols through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, respect, mutual understanding, inter-cultural dialogue in all aspects of design practice. Indigenous people have been telling stories, making tools, and connecting to Country through visual media, placemaking and place marking for more than 60,000 years and these practices are part of an ongoing, evolving and live tradition.
