Communication Design (Honours)

Hi, I’m Khyati! As a Communication Designer, I’m passionate about creating vibrant and playful designs that connect with people and leave a lasting impression. I believe design has the unique ability to inspire positive change, especially when it comes to environmental impact, and I enjoy exploring how my work can contribute to that cause. My design journey includes work in branding, publication design, campaign design and packaging, while also experimenting with a bit of web design, 3D, animation, and video production. I’m always keen to explore new techniques, refine my skills, and create visuals that are both impactful and memorable.

Recyclable! But Will You?

The campaign focuses on promoting recycling habits and sustainable disposal practices, emphasising on environmental awareness and consumer engagement. I created branding, illustrations, and social media content, along with other marketing materials to encourage responsible waste management and sustainability.

Barricade- Publication Design

A monothematic publication design based on Benzi Zhang’s ‘The Cultural Politics of Gender Performance,’ focusing on image-making, typography & layout, and print design. This publication creatively blends visual elements and typography to reflect the subject’s themes.

Creme- FMCG Dessert Brand

A refined FMCG dessert brand with 4 to 6 premium packaging variations that showcase yoghurt or mascarpone bases and unique flavor profiles, covering Brand & Identity Design, Product Photography, and Packaging Design.

Are you Roadworthy?

The campaign promotes ‘Fit for Duty’ by encouraging drivers to assess their mental, emotional, and physical readiness alongside their vehicle checks. Campaign outcomes include posters, fact sheets, checklists, and a facilitator guide, all designed to help drivers become more self-aware and prepared for their duties. SOWseen- Sustainable Eyewear Brand

An eco-friendly eyewear brand focused on creating stylish, affordable optical eyewear from global waste, covering logo design, brand patterns, copywriting, website, stationery, brand applications (posters, hoardings, packaging), and brand guidelines.

In a time of treaty-making and voice we understand that there are overlaps between caring for Country and the sustainable production of goods, services, experiences, products and buildings.

Guided by the principles of respect, reconciliation, and reciprocity we undertake to indigenising and decolonising design practice by dismantling colonial structures and challenging biases that have marginalised Indigenous voices and design.

As students of SoDA you will be given opportunities to both engage with and educate yourself in Indigenous creative practices and cultural protocols through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, respect, mutual understanding, inter-cultural dialogue in all aspects of design practice. Indigenous people have been telling stories, making tools, and connecting to Country through visual media, placemaking and place marking for more than 60,000 years and these practices are part of an ongoing, evolving and live tradition.
