Alice Williamson

Hey! I’m Alice Williamson, a Melbourne based graphic designer who enjoys creating fun and meaningful designs that bring ideas to life and foster connections. I believe that design should be about more than just looks, they should tell a story, bringing people together and communicate in significant ways.

During my time at Swinburne, I have learnt how to apply design thinking in effective ways to create work that is tailored to each client and their vision. I’ve undertaken a wide range of projects, including branding and logo design, wed design, product design, and packaging, however my love lies with publication design.

I enjoy using type, colour, and form to create visually dynamic and engaging publications which bring words to life and create emotion.

As I am coming towards the end of my Bachelor of Communication Design degree at Swinburne, I aim to continue honing my skills and growing as a designer, putting ideas from paper out into the world.

Race, Gender, and the Separation of Voice and Body

Race, Gender, and the Separation of Voice and Body is publication designed based on the article written by Shaoni C. White. Using bold sans serif typefaces, contrasting colours, and strong imagery, this piece presents White’s writing in a new light, capturing the themes of censorship and loss of voice, and using visuals to enhance the emotion of this piece.

The Circle

This piece aims to advertise an upcoming Netflix series based on a book ‘The Circle’ written by Dave Eggers. Capturing the feeling of unease and loss of control, this composition represents the dystopian world in which the novel is set, highlighting how the world has been taken over by electronics and artificial intelligence.

Peace Up, A-Town Down

My final project for my university capstone unit, this publication is a redesign of a research study by Josh Fitzgerald titled ‘Peace Up, A-Town Down; exploring the evolution of popular music’. The redesign takes colour, type, and imagery to create a cohesive, visually captivating booklet which perfectly captures the themes of music, society and connection.

Beyond Infinite

Beyond Infinite is a clothing brand with the main goal of encouraging young people to experiment with their clothing and find their identity. The brand name and logo together present the idea that clothing and fashion have no limits, and are in fact, infinite.

An Australian brand selling handmade stamp and ink pads, PRESSd aims to get more adults to unlock their inner child and find their creativity. The floral range includes a number of flower and plant stamps, with simple visuals and calming colours to encapsulate the quiet, calm feeling of sitting down and doing arts and craft.
