Ella Weyers

I’m Ella Weyers, a Communication Design and Advertising creative who turns smart ideas into beautiful, meaningful work. I blend visual design with strategic thinking to build brands, campaigns, and content that connect, equal parts aesthetics and story.

I have a deep love for publication design: building editorial systems, shaping typographic hierarchy, and crafting page rhythm so every spread feels clear and intentional. My style starts with simplicity, clean structure, white space, thoughtful type, then uses colour as a decisive tool to guide the eye, add warmth, and create character without noise.

Swinburne University sharpened my ability to experiment, refine, and say more with less. I recently completed a double bachelor’s in media & communication and design, majoring in Advertising and Communication Design. Recent work span’s identity, and digital: collaborating on the Shaping STEM Futures website and developing branding and social content for SHIBUI Head Spa.

Curious and collaborative, I’m energised by briefs where strategy meets craft, where a simple idea, elevated by smart typography and purposeful colour, becomes work that feels human, clear, and impossible to ignore. I adapt easily and bring full effort to every brief. My biggest lesson: great work comes from experimentation, testing multiple ideas, actively seeking feedback, and refining with intention until the solution feels simple and true.

I’m a bubbly, deeply creative person, and that energy shows up in my professional and personal life. At heart, I’m a creator, curious and excited to turn small ideas into something people can see, hold, or feel.

Meredith Music Festival Information Guide

Meredith Festival has been a beloved event for decades. It began in the 1980s when a group of music lovers came together to create a festival that truly celebrated music. From the start, the festival was designed to be a relaxed, inclusive, and mature experience for everyone to enjoy.

I set out to create a festival guide that captures the essence of Meredith, highlighting the best parts of the event while presenting information in a fun and easy-to-read way. The booklet is short and sweet, featuring playful gradients and noise textures to reflect the festival’s vibrant and laid-back spirit.

State Library Annual Report

This publication celebrates the community and intellect surrounding the State Library of Victoria, honouring the thinkers, readers, and culture it fosters in Melbourne.

My aim was to craft a vibrant, culturally rich annual report that remained clear and professional, presenting data and charts with precision. I loved blending mixed media with refined typography, and I’m proud of the publication’s energy and cohesive feel.

The Power of Women Publication Print

Based on the Essay ‘Dissonance and defensiveness: orienting affects in online feminist cultures,’ written by Akane Kana & Julia Coffey. This essay explores themes of how contemporary feminists are shaped by shared feelings and experiences within digital culture, which significantly influences what feminism means today. It explores the idea that feelings serve as an “orienting device” (as proposed by Ahmed), guiding individuals in understanding their identities and relationships within a patriarchal society.

Wholesome Magazine Photoshoot

Throughout this shoot, my goal was to evoke the comfort of an autumn, home-cooked dessert, something you could almost reach out and taste. I styled with edible elements and warm props, spices scattered at the edges, honey slowly dripping, to bring the cake to life and tell a story, not just show a cake on a stand. That sense of family and warmth guided the typography too, chosen to mirror the cozy, handcrafted feel of the imagery.

Woolies Staples

My capstone project reimagines Woolworths’ Essentials as Woolies Staples, a cohesive, proud, everyday range that feels high-quality yet affordable. I rebuilt the brand system (name, logo, colour palette, packaging architecture) to strengthen recognition and shift perception from “cheap” to “smart value.”

The range is paired with a point-of-sale recipe book that demonstrates how quick, inexpensive, at-home meals can be made using these staple items, turning the aisle purchase into practical inspiration.
