Hi, my name is Despina Batsakis, but you can call me Denise!

I'm a communication designer from Melbourne, Victoria, with a passion for all things art and design. I have always been artistic (I get it from my mum) and I love to draw, craft and create in my spare time. But I don't just love art, I love quality time with friends and family, as well as puzzles, adventures and games (of all kinds). I draw inspiration from my previous works as well as others' works on Pinterest, and always try to find a unique perspective when designing and creating.

Outside of my studies, I have also designed logos for my dad's business, Bat Comms, and my mum's business, Terrific Fitness, as well as advertisements for charity events held within my mum's business.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - Classic Reboot

A classic reboot of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz utilizes the iconic heart, home, brain, and courage symbolisms to create bookmarks, and the classic green and gold colours and art-deco illustration to design the classic reboot book cover.

A Taste of Melbourne

Southgate, Melbourne required a publication design containing information about the various cuisines and restaurants located within Southgate. As you flick through the publication, A Taste of Melbourne, each double page will present one cuisine and the respective restaurant with information about the restaurant, their open hours, and details. Each double page will be designed according to the cuisine with symbols and colours.

Grafa Tri-Tools

An artisan garden tool company, Grafa, required a packaging design to be created for a set of 3 garden tools. This design utilizes an octagon shape inspired by honeycomb and nature, with a tapered base creating the design of a pot plant. Within the package is a holder for the three tools to be placed.

Teatastic

Three packaging designs for Teatastic were created to illustrate three types of tea flavours. The illustrations on the packaging resemble the part of the body that the flavour of tea mainly targets and soothes. Continuous line drawings bring a warmth and soft approach to the design, while also allowing the tea leaf designs to float around resembling an aura.

Stop Talking In Txt

This project was based on a campaign targeted towards children aged 8-13 years and their parents, about the dangers of social media amongst young children. These flyers/posters utilize slang words and phrases to illustrate social media logos and capture the illiteracy social media causes.
